Arpilleras are an art form comprised of applique work and embroidery applied to a backing of sack cloth.
The brightly colored three dimensional imagery created by stitching pre formed cloth figures and other cloth shapes of every day objects to a cloth generally depict themes of traditional Peruvian folklore or scenes from everyday Peruvian rural life.
Always Peruvian arpilleras are colorful ,vibrant, cheerful and uplifting and make great wall decoration for childrens bedrooms or nurseries. The scenes help to stimulate a childs imagination.
Arpilleras come in many sizes..generally the larger they are the more work has been involved and therefore they cost more. The arpilleras on offer here measure approximately 10.00" x 10.00" or 25 cm x 25 cm.
